New Rangatahi Film Fund announced
16 April 2019
Rei Foundation in partnership with Doc Edge is excited to announce the Doc Edge Rei Foundation Rangatahi Film Fund, an innovative new fund for short documentaries tailored to younger audiences, our rangatahi. The Rangatahi Film Fund is the first of its kind in the world, and aims to fund four short documentaries over the next year. Filmmakers awarded with funding will be further rewarded with a première screening at Doc Edge Festival 2020.
Doc Edge screen over 1300 documentaries a year as part of the selection process for the Doc Edge Film Festival and Doc Edge Schools program. Over the years, Doc Edge has noticed that there is a dearth of films made specifically with younger audiences in mind.

Rei Foundation is passionate about the transformative role documentaries can play in developing empathy and open-mindedness in younger audiences. Already committed to supporting the Doc Edge Schools and Schools On Demand programmes, we see this new fund as a positive step in our efforts, with Doc Edge, to develop a deeper and broader pool of youth-focused documentaries for local and international audiences.
